OLA!

I started blogging about some years ago. I tried very hard to blog about myself and it often came out with nothing! Of course there were a lot of stuff going on in my life but I was worried it would be misinterpreted if I put it online and god knows who might read it! Now food is a different thing. It's almost like a universal language everybody can relate to and it's much easier for me to make people understand. Since 2009, I've been posting pictures of food I've tried and giving my personal views on them. Just a reminder - I'm neither a certified food critic or a professional photographer (I've yet to own an DSLR and most of my pics are shot from my mobile phone). I'm just an aspiring foodie and I'm here to share my thoughts on the food I've tasted. No puns intended.

Aaarrgghh!!!

I am doomed. I am cursed. My life is a mess. Yes, I have to admit this - I am now, officially a Facebookaholic. And guess what? I was a member since 2007 but I just found out about it recently and I wished I hadn't found out about it all! It's unexplainable how I actually became a member. Anyway, this Facebook stuff is super addictive especially when you are hooked on their games eg: Pet Society. You see, this game actually drove me to my insanity. I even think about it in my sleep and I'll have withdrawal symptoms if I don't touch the game for a day. Can you imagine the insanity? So much for my journey to becoming an "aspiring foodie". Bah! I don't even bother to look at food right now. I mean, yes I still do - when I'm eating, of course. Other than that, sorry, nope, not as fascinated by them as I used to be.

Now, I'm trying my best to get Facebook out of my head...it's not easy but today I managed somehow. If not, would I be here, typing out this entry? Of course, the first thing that popped in my head as soon as my laptop was on was to click on Facebook login. But phew, I didn't.

Do they have Facebookaholic Anonymous anywhere? Because if it exists, I'll definitely sign up.

I'm feeling a bit cuppycakey today...

So I got for myself this pretty cupcake from Primadeli ($2.20). Well, pretty it may seem but this cupcake is disappointingly - just a normal chocolate sponge cake topped with buttercream icing and bits of chocolate chip. To add a bit of fun, they placed a plastic butterfly on top of the icing. Nice to look at but definitely not my kind of cupcake. Baby S enjoyed it though and get this - the plastic butterfly is decoration cum accessory! Well, that should make up for the lack of a real cupcake taste.
Looks good on Baby S right?

Yawn...

Well, since I've not been anywhere nice to dine since the beginning of the year, I'll just put up a pic of the first gift I got in 2009. Actually this was supposed to be a X'mas prezzie but it was given to me on the 1st of January instead. I can't wait for more!

Thanks V!

HAPPEHH NOO YEEEARR!

It's a brand new year and I'm just hoping for happier times ahead. Oh yeah, and my blog's officially REVAMPED! Thanks so much V! I really appreciate your patience to guide me - the complete idiot in blogging...heh! I feel like I'm really hyped up to try out as a foodie blogger. Anyway, as I'm such a "backdated" kind of person (another word for a lazy blogger) in this blogging business, I'm going to post all the pictures of 2008 that I've painstakingly collected throughout the year but never found the time to post them. Come to think of it, I'm one of the few pathetic people who started a blog in 2002 but whose entries are less than twenty. Well here are my long overdue pics of 2008 although you have to excuse my humble image quality, courtesy of my humble megapixels...happy screening!

Surprisingly, 2008 is THE year that I truly learn to appreciate food alot. So much so that I started taking pics at almost all the eateries or restaurants that I had my meal. HD wasn't that please at first probably because he felt uncomfortable at other people looking at his wifey rearranging her plate, bowl, etc on the table just so that she can snap a few pics of her meal. I, on the other hand, ignored his disgruntled look and carried on with my aspiring journey to becoming a foodie...hehe! Well, let's move on with the piccies and for starters let's look at the best part of any meal - DESSERT!

Swensen's
Swensen's Fondue
The ice-cream was tasty, all five flavours of it. The chocolate fondue was sickening though. It neither stuck well nor hardened to the fruits, marshmallows and wafers. Oh by the way, the marshmallows and the wafers are the cheapskate types. I'll give them a 5/10 (actually, I'll give them a 4 but their ice cream was quite a winner).

Gelatissimo
There's so much talk about gelato these days. Why not? These Italian dessert hit us by storm since...? I don't know when but I'm sure it was very recent. Anyway, I recommend everybody just to stand infront of a Gelatissimo counter and have a good look at their extensive flavours and the fruits that they used as "props" which they place on top of their gelato, really interesting! As for me, I really adore their creative flavours which even include lychee (so Asian!)and RedBull (who would even think of that?). I'll give them a 7/10 for being a guilt-free temptation.

Haagen Dazs
Ahh...just the name will send shivers through your tastebuds and I can't wait to go back to this ice-cream parlor to try out more of their tantilizing ice-cream creations like their Ice-Cream Sushi, Seventh Heaven and of course, their famous Fondue. Anyway, thanks for the treat V.
This was V's create-your-own Haagen Dazs dessert.

This was mine...rather boring I must say but I didn't want to over-indulge myself because it was someone's treat, hehee!

Cavana
HD, Baby S and me were all feeling slightly peckish on this particular day so I suggested to try out Cavana. Consider it a simple dish but I kind of like HD's dish better than mine. His was the Classic Cutlet Rice and mine was the "not-so-desirable" Teriyaki Chicken Hotplate (it sounds good on the menu, though!).

Korean Food @ Banquet Food Court
This was my last meal at Banquet for 2008 and I simply had to try out the stall that sells Korean food. Furthermore, it seems that Korean cuisine is gaining popularity here in Singapore and I definitely want to be in the "in" crowd!

Bibim Bap
Rice, chicken, veggies, special sauce and egg served in a claypot. The way to eat it: give everything a thorough mix whilst the claypot is still warm till you can see that the egg is cooked.

Well, those were the piccies that I managed to snap up for the year 2008. Of course there were some other places that I had dined in but due to lack of oppurtunity, I had to give them a miss. Hopefully, I'll bring in more reviews for 2009. Till then, have a great year everyone!
